The ecobutton is illuminated and sits on your table/desk top next to your keyboard. It connects to your computer via a USB cable.
Each time you take a short or long break, a phone call, go for a meeting etc. you simply press the ecobutton and your computer is put into energy saving 'ecomode' which ensures that both your computer and monitor draw only the same nominal power as when they are shut down!

Ecobutton re-educates windows to enter the most economical 'sleep' mode available, it does not use the windows 'hibernate' function although some users will see the 'preparing to standby' screen when your computer enters its energy saving ecomode.
In most cases the computer is able to drop its power consumption to around 1.8 watts - approximately the same as if it were off!
Once in this ecomode, just press a key or give the power button a quick press to restore your computers and all your work instantly.
